About Blaire

While this blog is mostly for people who already know me and want to keep updated on my geological excursion for this summer, I suspect that a lot of people who I don't know will check out this blog. If the side-intro thing on the right isn't as good of a description, I'll go ahead and go a little more detailed here.

I'm currently a rising junior at the University of Rochester studying geobiology within the Geological Sciences BS degree. I have always had a fondness for science, starting with arachnology when I was 5 or 6, and then drifting through astronomy, biology, and currently settling in paleontology and geology. I do photography and writing on the side, which I'll probably bring up on this blog as well between posts about field work and geology in general.

Tying in with an earlier mention of arachnology, I do have a tarantula, who I may occasionally post photos of. I'll make sure to have those tagged, with plenty of words before the photos appear. I'm hoping one day this collection will grow, but probably not while I'm in my undergrad years.

If I had to pick a Star Trek character that I related most to, it would probably be Seven of Nine from Voyager (I know my prose is dry, but it is... sufficient, for now. [HA!] I'm working on getting it to be less dry). I also consider myself a fan of Doctor Who (9 and 10 era, I don't like what Steven Moffat has done to the show), Firefly, 3rd Rock From The Sun, and Kimmy Schmidt's Unbreakable. I consider myself a Fan™ of Hamilton, so there will probably be multiple mentions of the musical on here. If more things strike my fancy on this blog, I'll mention it here.

Anyway, hope you enjoy these posts as I spend time in the field!
